WORKING FROM BED: TEXT/ILE, GRIEF AND PERFORMANCE

Working from Bed: Text/ile, Grief and Performance
Sick days. Chronic pain days. Grief-from-the-state-of-the-world-kinda-days. Sometimes the best option is just to stay in bed. Working from Bed: Text/ile, Grief and Performance recognizes the bed as a rich site of textual production based on our proximity to textiles that keep us warm and manage (somehow) to make us feel safer. Each week of this workshop, participants will craft short narratives inspired by their own bedtime textiles – t-shirts, bonnets, gowns, du-rags, shams, quilts, comforters and more. 'Working from Bed' will culminate in a literary ‘sleepover’ with readings and textile-based performances, hot tea and only the most comfortable bedtime attire.

Time: 2 hour mini workshop OR 3 day/6 hour intensive.
